Bad Hombre

Bad Hombre is a song I started writing on a long drive.
I was headed home from a video shoot where we made the videos for Be up and Muddy Water.

I wanted to try and use the time to work on a song. So I found an instrumental I liked and started
writing. That is where the opening lines came from:

“Dallas to Fort Worth
Long way home

Gettin back on the road
With a car full of clothes
From a video shoot

Find a nice beat
And I put it on loop”

I made some progress on that drive, but it took quite a few more writing sessions to finish the song.

Its a lot easier to write when I have a very specific theme.
When a song has one specific idea or vibe its trying to get across, its easier to stay on track.

This song was more of an energy thing.
I tried to channel my more confident side and really give it a punch.

The beat for this song is by Mike Lakes
I went out to Music in Focus studio to have it recorded, mixed and mastered.

I had been wanting to use the Trump “Bad Hombre” clip for a long time.
As a Mexican artist, and in the time this song was written and released, I felt like it was a cool way to reclaim the term.

As always, Dennis filmed the performance video. We filmed it at Prophecy film studio.

Quite the full circle moment there. He shot some of my earliest videos for Swim and Repeat there in one suite.

I had been leaving their second suite shooting videos when I wrote this song.
And I got to come back to shoot the video for that song in their third suite!

I think I have a video in most sets there are this point. Really a great space!

We had a lot of fun with the video.
I got to get the wardrobe at costume stores since we shot in late August/early September.

I packed everything, and forgot the undershirt at home.
So, I spent the first 30 minutes of our time in the studio running through Walmart trying to get another one!

I enjoyed playing up the “Bad Hombre” trope.

Even knowing the jail cell was fake, I did not wanna sit in there for long.
Also, grabbed some fuzzy handcuffs at an adult store down the street to make the video more light hearted.

Hope you enjoy the track!

Lyrics

Verse 1

Dallas to Fort Worth
Long way home

Gettin back on the road
With a car full of clothes
From a video shoot

Find a nice beat
And I put it on loop

Made it do what it do man
Who the fuck knew

Best to ever do it man
Who the fuck you

Don’t be underhanded
When you hand it to me

Left hand is pullin

The wheel
While I’m switchin the gears

Vision is clear
Y’all livin in fear

I’m ditchin the
Rear-view

Music so loud

I cannot
Hear you

Got too much
To steer through

I get down
Ain’t no doubt about it

Catch me around
Where the round and brown at

Studied the greats
I could cap and gown that

Made buddy deflate
He might never bounce back

Oh no
I’m on go

My ego grows
When it gets stroked

Bring me the girl
With the prettiest toes

And a ring in her nose

She could bring her quartz
She could bring her rose

Hook

Who you think you are
Mister Suave

What you think you are
A bad hombre

I think I’m both
I think I’m both
I think I’m both

Who you think you are
Mister Suave

What you think you are
A bad hombre

I think I’m both yeah
I think I’m both yeah

I think I’m
I think I’m

Verse 2

Standin on bidness
Like I stomped a suit

My rhymes paint pictures
Like I’m Dr. Seuss

Crazy on a beat
Like I lost a screw

Callin’ all the shots
When I’m in the booth

Not bad for a ESL kid

A real POS
Empty out the POS kid

Give me all the 20s and 10s

Rack city bitch
Rack rack city bitch

Let’s be realistic
I go ballistic

Call me salacious
Or call me delicious

Like politicians
I sway the statistics

Your chick put my hits
On the pick list for Christmas

Nasty songs
Made her a fan

More junk in the trunk
Than I can grab

Take a few trips

Tall drink of water baby
Take a few sips

Go on strip down mama
Get acoustic

You the kinda girl
I can get in tune with

Hook

Who you think you are
Mister Suave

What you think you are
A bad hombre

I think I’m both
I think I’m both
I think I’m both

Who you think you are
Mister Suave

What you think you are
A bad hombre

I think I’m both yeah
I think I’m both yeah

I think I’m
I think I’m

Verse 3

Texas Mexicano
It’s obvious

Bring your chickens home to roost
With the cockiest

Three sides to a story
That’s prolly it

But I’m the one
They wanna get poly with

I’m workin my angles

Puttin the pen
To the paper
To table

Since stolen cable
Don’t do me no favors

I Cain
And I’m Abel

To get all this anger

Up outta me
Don’t be crowdin me

You surroundin me
Make me outwardly

Active aggressive

That button go boom
So don’t press it

Don’t make things get hectic

This can all go to shit
Don’t make things get septic

Don’t want your perspective
I’ll take no more questions

Hook

Who you think you are
Mister Suave

What you think you are
A bad hombre

I think I’m both
I think I’m both
I think I’m both

Who you think you are
Mister Suave

What you think you are
A bad hombre

I think I’m both yeah
I think I’m both yeah

I think I’m
I think I’m
