For Tonight
The initial idea for “For Tonight” came to me when I was doing a writing session. I came up with the hook and did not write anything else for a long time.
For the next few months, I kept catching myself singing the hook over and over again, and I just could not stop thinking about finishing the song.
The beat was from a producer named Rockrose, who I had been following for a while, and wanting to work with.
I reached out and was able to work out a deal with him to get the beat!
The verses to this song came together in a slightly different way to other songs in the past. I spent some time trying out different cadences for the song and picking from those ideas to fit lyrics to, as opposed to writing with a focus on lyrics first.
This song is about a hot and cold woman who I never quite “caught”.
I know they're selfish.
I know they are likely no good for me.
But I can't let go of the desire to be with them, even if just for one night.
I think its a power thing. They might have given me a taste, or a bit of special attention
from time to time throughout the years, but I was always the one pursuing them.
The frustration of never feeling like I've never fully had them, or made them crazy over me in return
has driven me to persist.
So, during a week moment, late at night, I might unblock them and ask them to “love me for tonight”
This song shares a common concept with a lot of songs I love (shocker, I know)
But, one of my favorites is a Mexican hip-hop song called Vida, by Santa Fe Klan, who I
have been drawing a ton of inspiration from lately.
I went out to Music in Focus studio to have it recorded, mixed and mastered.
When we recorded the vocals, I had Jake Rodriguez come out and sit in the booth with me to make sure I sang the song as well as I could.
Jake is a vocal coach I had met at a mixing class held at Music in Focus.
I don't have any formal singing training, but the song ideas I get often have singing in them, so
I am hoping involving a coach in some sessions will be a good start until I have time to devote to proper training.
Dennis filmed the video, as always.
We filmed it at Javier Herrera photography.
The video shoot gave me a good excuse to buy yet another Rangers jersey, lol.
Hope you enjoy the track!

Lyrics
Hook
Can you love me for tonight
Just love me for tonight
Cause I don’t need you tomorrow
I don’t need you tomorrow
Just love me for tonight
Come through if it’s feelin’ right
And I won’t need you tomorrow
I won’t need you tomorrow
Verse 1
Unblocked
I got a soft spot
It's late baby
Won’t you come talk
You got a lot of pride
And I know that won’t stop
When you get here
You can still be on top
You’re the red flag
You’re the problem
I know that you’re bad
You got options
All of that sass
So Toxic
All of that ass
Spoiled rotten
I want another taste of you
I’m afraid the ways you’re able to
Cater to my fantasies
I’d bring you everything
And the table too
And here I am
Still chasin’ you
Baby
I been cravin’ you
Hook
Love me for tonight
Just love me for tonight
Cause I don’t need you tomorrow
I don’t need you tomorrow
Just love me for tonight
Come through if it’s feelin’ right
And I won’t need you tomorrow
I won’t need you tomorrow
Verse 2
I get so stubborn
When I’m wantin’ you
Thinkin’ bout things
That we used to do
Skin so warm
Make me lose my cool
Look in your eyes
I get lost in you
I could keep
1, 2, 3, 4
Secrets for you
If you got a new boo
It is no problem to
Keep it
Between
Me and you
If you find a use
I don’t mind bein’ used
I been
Workin’ so hard
I lost track of time
Need a little love
To make me feel alive
Ain’t another twin flame
I can find
I’m afraid
That I might lose the fire
Pre-Chorus
I know
You don’t deserve it
I tried
I tried to reverse it
Your voice
Make these feelin’s resurface
Oh my
Why these urges
So urgent
I know
You don’t deserve it
I tried
I tried to reverse it
Your voice
Make these feelin’s resurface
Oh my
Why these urges
So urgent
Hook
Can you love me for tonight
Just love me for tonight
Cause I don’t need you tomorrow
I don’t need you tomorrow
Just love me for tonight
Come through if it’s feelin’ right
And I won’t need you tomorrow
I won’t need you tomorrow
